We held our first Antique Road Show today at Winnwood Retirement Community! A big thank you to Dave and Tammy Amsler and Big Shanty Auction Co. for making this event a success. Winnwood Retirement Community resident, Ed B. Risse of Marietta, recently enjoyed a wonderful visit to Washington D.C. The trip was courtesy of Honor Flight, an organization which transports America’s veterans to the capital to visit memorials dedicated to their service. Mr. Al Williams & Family Tom Lewis and Jo Allegood met at Winnwood this past year. They went from table mates to married life on New Year’s weekend. Thank you to everyone who donated to Toys for Tots. We had Jonathan’s (the Marine) truck stuffed full of gifts for needy children. With over 300,000 Yoshino Cherry trees in full bloom, it’s truly a spectacular drive. And the best part of the trip, we get to visit our sister community John Wesley Villas for a Cherry Ice Cream Social. [...] We had to postpone our trip to the Cherry Blossom festival in Macon because the trees weren’t in full bloom. Still, the weather was warm and we didn’t want to waste a lovely afternoon, so we headed up to 41 towards Cartersville. Residents and staff came together and worked with “Soldiers’ Angels” to collect gifts and write cards to our troops stationed overseas during the holiday season.
