Amicalola Outing

The Winnwood bus took a trip to Amicalola Lodge on October 4th to have lunch at the Maple Restaurant. For those of you who have not been to Amicalola State park you are sure missing out. The views from the Maple restaurant could take your breath away! While eating, residents enjoyed views of the surrounding mountains while peering out the floor to ceiling glass windows that cover an entire wall at the restaurant. After lunch, we watched a live exhibit about the owl population at the state parks research and rescue center. On the bus ride out of the park, we played a trivia game learning about the many wonders of Amicalola State park. Did you know the southern end of the famous Appalachian Trail is located in the park?

Our trip would not be complete without a stop at Burt’s Farm to pick out a few pumpkins, as well as a stop at Panorama Orchards for some fresh apples, cider and fried pies!

A few of our upcoming trips and events include a trip to Dahlonega, GA for shopping and lunch at the Smith House, a ride on the Marietta Trolley, and lunch at the Rib Ranch. Be sure to check out our Facebook page and Winnwood blog to see the latest events and activities at Winnwood.
